The Finnish pianist Joonas Ahonen has received critical acclaim both as a per former of Ligeti’s music and as a Beethoven interpreter on historical pianos. He has appeared with renowned orchestras and ensembles such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Avanti!, Ictus and Klangforum Wien, of which he has been a member since 2011. Recent highlights include appearances at
the Wiener Konzerthaus, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and in the Elbphilharmonie concert series in Hamburg.
A dedicated chamber musician, his regular collaborators include the violinist Pekka Kuusisto, the cellist Timo-Veikko Valve and the soprano Agata Zubel, and he has performed at the West Cork Chamber Music and Davos Festivals.
