The mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi has appeared at a number of distinguished venues, including the Hamburg State Opera, the Frankfurt Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and at the festivals in Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence and Savonlinna. Her roles ranges from Carmen and Amneris (Aïda) to Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) and Kundry (Parsifal). She was engaged as a soloist at the Finnish National Opera from 1998 to 2013.
In concert she appears with eminent orchestras worldwide, and as one of today’s leading interpreters of Mahler she has performed with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra and Berliner Philharmoniker. In August 2013, Lilli Paasikivi took up the post of artistic director of the Finnish National Opera.
