Ammiel Bushakevitz, piano, was born in Jerusalem, Israel and raised in South Africa. He has received top prizes at numerous competitions including the International Schubert Competition, the International Johannes Brahms Competition, the Concours Léopold Bellan in Paris, the International Song Competition ‘Das Lied’, and the Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition in London, together with the tenor Timothy Fallon.
Ammiel Bushakevitz studied under Phillip Moll at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ in Leipzig, Germany and furthered his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, France. He received mentorship from notable singers including the late Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Elly Ameling, Thomas Hampson, Matthias Goerne, Thomas Quasthoff, Brigitte Fassbaender and Teresa Berganza.
His awards include the Richard Wagner Prize, the European Union Commission Award and the ‘bourse du forum franco-allemand des jeunes artistes’. Ammiel Bushakevitz is an alumnus of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and an Edison Fellow of the British Library.
