Rick Stotijn is regarded as one of the world’s leading bass players. In 2013, he received the prestigious Dutch Music Prize, praised for his ‘stirring musicality and staggering virtuosity’. He performs regularly as soloist with orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Residentie Orkest The Hague and the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Rick has been principal double bass in orchestras including the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and Amsterdam Sinfonietta and currently holds the same position in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. As guest principal, he plays regularly in the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Since 2017 Rick is professor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. His recordings have received critical acclaim in magazines including Gramophone and The Strad.
