Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya



The Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia) was founded as the Municipal Orchestra of Barcelona in 1944 by the composer and conductor Eduard Toldrà, who held the position of artistic director until his death in 1962. Since 2015 Kazushi Ono has been principal conductor. Jan Willem de Vriend is the principal guest conductor. The orchestra has toured in Europe, Japan, Korea and USA and appeared at major venues worldwide. Since 1999 it has been the resident orchestra of L’Auditori, the Barcelona auditorium designed by the architect Rafael Moneo.
