Ensemble Allegria consists of a group of young and highly dedicated string players. It was formed in 2007 by students at the Norwegian Academy of Music. As the result of a rapid development the ensemble now appears at festivals such as the Bergen International Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Tromsø’s Northern Lights Festival and the Gezeitenkonzerte in Germany. It has collaborated with internationally known soloists such as Lawrence Power, Martin Fröst and Tine Thing Helseth. In 2012, as the first ensemble ever, it received the Statoil Talent Award. Ensemble Allegria has been nominated for Spellemannprisen several times. The ensemble’s leader and artistic director is Maria Angelika Carlsen.
