Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

Since its founding in 1934, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal has distinguished itself as a leader in the orchestral life of Canada and Québec. A cultural ambassador of the highest order, the orchestra has acquired an enviable reputation internationally through the quality of its many recordings and tours. Under the leadership of Kent Nagano, its music director from 2006 to 2020, the OSM has carried on that rich tradition, featuring innovative programming aimed at updating the orchestral repertoire and strengthening the orchestra’s connection with the community. Under his direction, the orchestra built a concert hall with exceptional acoustics and architecture, the Maison symphonique, and the Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique, generously donated by the great philanthropist Madame Jacqueline Desmarais. The OSM has a long history of performances on tour: some fifty tours in addition to numerous concerts given throughout Canada and abroad. Its roadmap includes four tours to South America, ten to Asia, twelve to Europe, and several to the United States. The orchestra has made more than 100 recordings, which have earned it a total of 50 national and international awards. The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal is presented by Hydro-Québec.
