Christian Ihle Hadland

Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland’s international career as both soloist and chamber musician received a major boost in 2011 when he was chosen for the BBC New Generation Artists scheme, an honour that entails playing with leading British orchestras and in the foremost chamber music venues. In 2010 he took over as artistic director of the prestigious chamber music festival in Stavanger, sharing this task first with Martin Fröst and then with Andreas Brantelid. He has appeared with many of the leading orchestras in Europe and with conductors ranging from Sir Andrew Davis to Herbert Blomstedt; he has made widely praised recordings, taught exceptional talents and played chamber music with partners including Janine Jansen, Truls Mørk and Clemens Hagen. After one of his recitals in Wigmore Hall the Sunday Times critic Paul Driver wrote: ‘There were times when I could almost believe, so effortless while profound is Hadland’s keyboard address, that the Steinway was playing itself.’
