The pianist Connie Shih is one of Canada’s foremost artists. In 1993 she was awarded the Sylva Gelber Award as the most outstanding classical artist under the age of 30. She has appeared extensively with orchestras throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. In recital, she is at home on the stages of major halls on four continents, and as a chamber musician she collaborates with many world-renowned musicians. Besides being the duo partner of cellist Steven Isserlis, she makes regular appearances at the Wigmore and Carnegie Halls, and at the prestigious Bath, Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Weill Hall (NY), and Kronberg Festivals with collaborators including Sir Simon Keenlyside, Joshua Bell, Maxim Vengerov, Tabea Zimmerman and Isabelle Faust. Connie Shih’s performances are frequently broadcast on television and radio in North America, Europe and Asia. In 2017, her critically acclaimed first disc with Steven Isserlis was released on the BIS label.  She made her orchestral début performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine. At the age of 12 she became the youngest ever protégé of György Sebők and then continued her studies at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia with Claude Frank, himself a protégé of Arthur Schnabel. Later studies were undertaken with Fou Ts’ong in London. She is on the faculty at the Casalmaggiore Festival in Italy.
